Cynthia "Cindi" Neel

Cynthia “Cindi” Davis Neel, from Bartlesville, OK, went to her heavenly home in the early morning of Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Cindi was born on September 11, 1957 in Hawthorne, CA, the daughter of Edwin Albert Davis and Norma Jean Hazel. She married the love of her life Timothy Bruce Neel on June 14, 1991 in St. Augustine, Florida. They were married for 31 wonderful years and had many adventures together as they raised their children and grandchildren. Growing up in Ocala, Florida, she was the only girl among four brothers: Two older twins and two younger, as well as her fifth and youngest brother from her father. As a child she loved getting lost in movies and dreaming of places far away, many that she would visit on her travels later in life. At a young age she took a prominent role in caretaking for her family. Whatever needed to be done around the house, she would take on. She particularly enjoyed learning how to cook and would spread that joy to her loved ones all throughout her life. This was the beginning of her true gift to the world. She graduated from Forest High School in 1975. After school she worked as a hospital administrative assistant and moved out on her own to start her life’s journey. She would soon meet and marry Scot Sparkman in 1977. Scot would enter the military and be transferred overseas, and Cindi joined him shortly after. Their daughter, Jill, was born in Germany, and after coming back to the US a few years later, they would have two more children, Jared and Beth. Although her marriage to Scot would end, they would always remain caring and respectful to one another. As a single parent she did her best to take care of her children. She wanted to be around them, so she worked in the school system as a teacher’s assistant and school bus driver. She would also babysit to help make ends meet. One day, Tim, her soon-to-be partner in life, came to pick up his nephews, who she was babysitting, and struck up a conversation with the pretty lady at the door. Although kids were running around in circles screaming in the background, Tim saw something in her that would change his life forever. A few dates would follow and some long distance communication would lead to him asking her to marry and start their lives together. In 1991 she and Tim wed in Florida and then moved with the children to Muskogee, Oklahoma where Tim lived and worked. After settling into their new home state, on August 3, 1992, Tim and Cindi welcomed their daughter Melissa Kaye Neel into this world, making their family whole. She would continue to work in the school system as a teacher’s assistant and a full time mother to four. In 1994 she and her family decided a change was needed and moved to Seymour, Indiana. They spent the next 12 years watching Jill, Jared and Beth grow up and graduate while Melissa was starting in school. They were active members of Cornerstone Community Church and developed lifelong friendships as well as strengthened their faith in the Lord. It was imperative to her that her children knew what Christ’s love was and she did her best to show them each and every day. In 2006 another change was calling, and Cindi, Tim and Melissa moved back to Oklahoma, this time to the city of Bartlesville. This is where she would watch Melissa grow into a young woman and graduate High School and College. She once again acclimated herself to a new community and made friends through church, work and Melissa’s activities. It wouldn’t be long before a granddaughter was on the way and her daughter Jill would move to be closer while having her first born. Beth would do the same when starting her family. Cindi loved having her daughters and grandchildren so close. She could see them everyday and love on them as they grew up. She so enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them all about life and taking care of others. Cindi spent the majority of her life’s work in home health care, taking care of elder patients as they prepared for the end of life here on earth. She took great pride in being with ones who needed someone to look after them. She would take care of their needs, but also sit and listen to them. She developed true friendships with many of those she cared for. Her true passions in life were spending time with her family and traveling, mostly to see friends and family. She would make plans far in advance or just jump in the car and go if there was an opportunity to visit someone she hadn’t seen in a while. A trip from point A to point B always had many stops along the way to see someone who was even remotely close along her travel route. Her vacations were less destinations and more like road trips to stay connected to the ones she loved. She did also chose destinations like Israel, Honduras, Guatemala, Australia and Alaska. She visited 4 continents, over 10 countries and 48 states in the US. She had an extensive plate collection from places she had been over the world and ones her family would send her from their travels. She always loved when she got her next plate, as there was a new story to tell. She also loved canning foods and cooking, another way she served those around her. She was always quick to ask a visitor, “Are You Hungry?” or “Do you want some coffee?” Her biggest achievement in life was being the glue that held her family together. She would not let her family fall out of touch. She left behind a great legacy of children and grandchildren. She always made it clear how much each of them were loved and cherished. She was their biggest fan and supporter, no matter what. She showed how to love unconditionally and set an example of what serving others really meant. She was happy throughout her life. This was because of her strong relationships with family, friends, and her knowledge that Jesus came to offer forgiveness, so that we may one day be united in heaven. She is preceded in death by her Father, Edwin Davis and Granddaughter Hadley Elizabeth Farmer. She is survived by her husband Tim, daughter Jill Weimer (Seth) Grandchildren Lilian, Evelyn, Harrison, Son Jared Sparkman (Lauren) Grandson Leo, Daughter Beth Farmer (Chris) Grandchildren Silas, Audrey, Madelyn, Wesley, Daughter Melissa Harms (Josh), Mother Jean Hazel Kincaid, Brothers Graham Davis, Greg Davis, John Davis, Russell Davis and Matt Davis. A celebration of life service for Cindi will be held on Tuesday, May 30th at 7pm at Christ Community Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 4pm until the time of the service.
